  • Shelfari: See what your friends are reading. Create virtual bookshelves for your books to keep track of what you’ve read. Discuss your favorite books in a book club.

The Booker Prize 
The Booker Prize, which aims to reward the best novel of the year, is awarded by Booker plc, which in May 2000 merged with Iceland plc.

Children’s Literature Web Guide
Internet resources related to books for children and young adults.

Guys Read
A site designed to get boys reading. Offers a list of books recommended by the webmaster, children’s author Jon Sczieska, and others suggested by visitors to the website.

Horn Book
Reviews of children’s books, articles and interviews of authors and illustrators.

National Book Award 
One of the USA’s most prestigious literary prizes, the National Book Award is given by the National Book Foundation.

The National Book Critics Circle Award 
The National Book Critics Circle Award annually recognizes books in five categories: fiction, general nonfiction, biography/autobiography, poetry and criticism.

The Newbery Medal 
The Newbery Medal, which honors the author making the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children, is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.

Nobel Prize for Literature 
Swedish engineer Alfred Nobel provided for the establishment of the Nobel Foundation in his will in 1895. Since 1901, it has recognized achievement in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace and economics. Past winners include Octavio Paz, Albert Camus, Ernest Hemingway and Hermann Hesse.

The PEN/Faulkner Award 
The PEN/Faulkner Award is affiliated with PEN (Poets, Playwrights, Editors, Essayists and Novelists) and is named for William Faulker, the author of such novels as “The Sound and the Fury” and “As I Lay Dying.” The award recognizes an outstanding fiction book selected by judges who are themselves fiction writers.

Publishers Weekly
The international news website of book publishing and bookselling including reviews, bestseller lists, commentary and more.

The Pulitzer Prize 
The will of Joseph Pulitzer, a crusading newspaper journalist, provided for the establishment of the Pulitzer Prizes. Since its inception in 1917, the prizes have recognized the best in journalism, letters, drama and music. Many consider it the most prestigious award a journalist or author can achieve.

Reading Rants

Reading Rants, a website featuring out of the ordinary booklists for teens, has been an online presence since 1998. Written by Jennifer Hubert and designed by Andrew Mutch.
Place for teens to sound off about what’s on their bookshelves. Look for the latest young adult reads, popular titles, and weekly polls.

YALSA (Young Adult Library Service Association)
YALSA is the world leader in evaluating, selecting and recommending books, audiobooks, and films for teens via its annual selected lists, four literary awards, Web site, and publications.
